I was born in a small countryside in South Korea. After the marriage, I moved into other countries with husband because of his business and ended up in Sydney where I lived for 23 years now. When I was a kid, my grandmother and mother made up the clothes for me, my brothers and sisters with fine skills that I was spontaneously exposed to sewing, knitting and embroidery.
When I came to Sydney, wool became my favorite material that I learned knitting, wool embroidery and felting. The best of the all was Freeform knitting since it was like drawing a wonderful view of natures with various colours in harmony. I truly fell in love with Freeform knitting which gave me a great joy and fulfillment. As I did it more and more, I became more satisfied with my expression in colours and motif that the work brought me great happiness.
Every trips have brought me various ideas on motif and colours. The chosen colours and thematic motif were combined and finally became a work of harmony like a drawing. The most significant trip was a train trip from Sydney to Perth and the most significant motif was Eucalyptus tree which led my heart bouncing. I loved the sound of wind made by Eucalyptus trees and their colours of green.
I feel sorry that I forgot the name of the teacher who led me to Freeform knitting but the warmth and coziness given by the wool crafting comforted me in peace that I wish my work would do the same for others like a little prayer.
I have opened 10 little exhibitions in Korea to share the joy and warmth through my work and they made me very busy but also proud.
Now I became a new member of NSCG in 2016, I am very happy to be with and look forward for the great moments with God’s blessing
