Carolyn Cabena
Textiles

Carolyn has been a member of the NSCG since 1993.

Her interest in fashion and textiles is the inspiration to create her own unique fabrics. Carolyn has experimented with a variety of dyes and techniques on silk and velvet to create accessories and classic garments.

A length of fabric is printed with several screens, randomly placed, with consideration given to the finished piece. By changing the print placement her aim is to create and capture the spirit and rhythm of natural design. Over-dyeing and discharging the dye using shibori methods of resist adds a further dimension and creates variations of colour with texture.  The devore or burnout technique adds transparency to the designs.

Carolyn is also a member of The Society of Arts and Crafts of NSW  and www.untetheredfibreartists.com
