Nicky Coady
Potter

“From the rolling hills of Devon, the vast veldt of Africa to the weathered shores of Australia my forms have emerged”.

Nicky has been a member of the North Shore Craft Group since 1993.

She enrolled in TAFE at Brookvale and completed a Diploma of Ceramics course, graduating in 1986.   After graduating Nicky taught at the Ku ring gai Art Centre, Roseville for 27 years.

Currently she is President of the Ferry Artists Gallery at Wisemans Ferry (where she always has a selection of work) and Vice President of the Ceramic Study Group.

Nicky’s work has been recognised over the years by winning over 20 competitions and for the past 2 years, winning the Comber Consultancy section of the Sydney Teapot Show.

As well as having had several solo exhibitions, her works have been purchased for Permanent Collections and Corporate gifts.

"My love of texture has drawn me to experiment with crystalline glazes, as it has a certain illusiveness and depth which still intrigues me. My latest textured forms using stoneware or porcelain clay bodies are a contemporary fusion of East meets West and by incorporating my Japanese “Boro” patchwork concept, some of my vessels and platters are adorned with the delicate floral motifs of the Australian bush.

My insignia, the spiral, means ever evolving, ever changing and so my journey with clay continues."
