John has been woodturning for over 15 years, having had a lifelong interest in woodwork.  

John was trained by a well-known professional woodturner with more than 50 years experience, who continues to be his mentor.

John also attends demonstrations and workshops and participates as a demonstrator.
He exhibitions regularly with the North Shore Craft Group

John prefers to turn larger pieces; bowls, platters and vases.  A number of his works have been embellished with carving, colour and pyrography.  John has also ventured into power-carving some larger works.
