Telena is a musician and textile artist who loves to experiment with colour and texture. While still working as a professional oboist and teacher, Telena expresses her creativity in many different textile media. She joined the NSCG in 2006.
Telena’s skills have been learnt from well-respected textile teachers including Kirry Toose, Polly Stirling, Jenny Hopper, Carol Redlich, Glenys Mann, India Flint, Adele Outteridge and Trudy Billingsley at the Ku-Ring-Gai Community Art Centre and Fibre Forum workshops and classes.
She has developed a wide range of knitwear using beautiful coloured wools and threads including shawls, tops, headwear and footwear. Telena enjoys felting and has been expanding her knowledge in various wearable art pieces made using traditional and Nuno techniques.
Recently she has started hand-dyeing her felted works.
Telena’s machine embroidery neckpieces and jewellery are very popular at exhibitions and craft shows including the yearly getaway to the Textile Fibre Forum workshops in Orange.
